This past Sat. Kristee and I were out of town at a friend’s wedding, so the kids stayed here with their grandparents. They went to the fair on Sat., while they were there they decided to go watch the pig races. Apparently it was quite crowded and the kids were playing under the bleachers a little while, but then saw their aunt and uncle across the way. Halee was told by nana to go get Gavin so that they could work their way over to where Kami and Ian were at. Halee tapped Gavin on the shoulder and told him to come, but he says that he didn’t hear what she said. Come to find out when he turned to go to where they were at they were gone.
Gavin says that he went back and forth from where he was to where he remembered them being several times just hoping to find them, but he never could find them. Meanwhile Halee and Nana meet up with Kami and Ian and later discover that Gavin was missing (around 20 minutes or so). When they discover this they go on a frantic search, yelling his name from top of bleachers and whatever they could to try and get his attention.
After Gavin discovers that he can’t find them he says that he went over by a wall and decided to just sit there. While he was sitting there he said, “I just prayed and prayed and prayed that God would help him find them.” Pretty soon while Gavin was praying, (he said, “he didn’t cry, but was really close.”) a couple of little girls and a young boy come up to him and ask him if he is lost. Gavin tells them yes, so they go and get their mom to come help who then gets a State Trooper to come help Gavin find his family.
While Gavin is being asked all kinds of questions by the Trooper, Ian spots him and comes over saying there’s our lost son.
This is such a scary moment, but at the same time and awesome moment too!! (even scarier when you get into Gavin’s mind, see below!!) Gavin knew that he needed to ask for God’s help in that moment, his faith in God is strong and to see God provide angels in these kids that came up to him is awesome!! He got to see the power of prayer happen right before his eyes, and we praise God that he is the one that heard Gavin calling out to him for help!!
Now for what was going on in Gavin’s mind. As he was telling me this he said, I was thinking I might not get to see my family again. He was talking about being with the State Trooper and Ian finding him. He said, that the trooper was getting ready to take him to the lost child area, and with that Gavin said, “that wouldn’t have been good.” I told him that it wouldn’t have been such a bad thing, and I explained what would have happened in that situation. Then Gavin said, “oh really, I thought that if I had to go to the lost child area that I would have had to get a new family!” The thought just breaks my heart to know what was going through his head.
I just praise God that he protected him, that Gavin’s faith in God was so strong to call out to him for help. It brings a couple of verses to mind when I think about Gavin praying to God. Powerful, powerful stuff!!
But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
